Fishing Below Harrisburg, PA, Susquehanna River (09/25/11)

Hello Folks,

Autumn has arrived here in SC Pennsylvania. Jeff (CHRGD) and Penny made their way to another part of the river since Lake Aldred ramps have been closed. So, they took a little drive north to find an open ramp and some murky, but "fishable" water. In fact, Jeff said that some of the water in the area was actually running muddy... UGH!

Although Jeff and Penny only caught three bass, they were all chunks!

Jeff was able to land a 20" smallmouth. Despite it's length, the 20" was rather skinny compared to the other two fish that they landed.

Penny caught a 16.5" bass that weighed in at 3.0 lbs! Now that is what we call a "football". This smallie had shoulders made for a linebacker.

The third and final fish caught was Jeff's and it measured a respectable 18" in length and weighed in at 3.0 lbs.

It's amazing that a smallmouth that was 1.5" smaller weighed in at the same weight. Our beloved Susquehanna River definitely gives up some pretty nice hawgs, that's for sure!

As you can see in the one photo of Jeff's 18" smallie that tubes were successful lures in that murky and slightly rising water. The water measured at 5.63' at Harrisburg during the daytime. It is currently holding at 5.3' and is suppose to rise to 5.8' by Thursday (9/29/11).

Jeff and Penny just love to take photos of wildlife and scenery in areas that they fish. In recent trips we have seen pics of majestic and mature bald eagles. We have also seen photos depicting the power of water in scenes created by the large amount of rain left by Hurricane Lee. Can you guess where the following pictures were taken along the Susquehanna River?

Another big thank you goes out to Jeff and Penny for sharing their recent fishing trip and some random pics of scenery found along the river.
