Susquehanna River Black Fly Suppression Update (07/09/11)

John Williams sent me an update on the Susquehanna River Black Fly Suppression Program:

Subject: Black Fly Suppression
Date: Fri, 8 Jul 2011 14:09:32 -0400

An aerial black fly suppression operation is scheduled for Monday, July 11 and Tuesday July 12 on the Juniata River, Conewago Creek, Swatara Creek, Conodoguinet Creek, Sherman Creek, Aughwick Creek, Penns Creek, Middle Creek and Mahantango Creek. This operation is scheduled to start at approximately 0700 in the York County area Monday morning. The treatment will continue up the Juniata River valley and end some-time Tuesday in the Selinsgrove area. The counties involved in this treatment include York, Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry, Juniata, Mifflin, Huntingdon, Snyder, Union and Northumberland Counties.  Poor weather conditions and technical difficulties can delay or cause postponement of the operation.

Helicopter Applicators of Gettysburg will be conducting the operation with a Bell 206, tail number N653HA.  Vectobac 12AS, a biological larvicide, is the control product that will be dispersed. The label and MSDS sheet for Vectobac 12AS are attached should you need more information on this product.

If you have any questions concerning this treatment or the Black Fly Suppression Program in general, please contact me at the number listed below.
