Susquehanna River Black Fly Suppression (07/07/11)

Hello Folks,

I received this email from my good fishing buddy, John Williams, last evening. So, if you see helicopters buzzing overhead while on the river... Beware! :)

Subject: Black Fly Suppression
Date: Wed, 6 Jul 2011 16:54:46 -0400

An aerial black fly suppression operation is scheduled for Thursday, July 7 on the main stem of the Susquehanna River. This operation is scheduled to start at 0700 in the Selinsgrove area. The treatment will continue South throughout the day ending in York County. The counties involved in this treatment include Snyder, Northumberland, Juniata, Perry, Dauphin, Cumberland, and York Counties.

The treatment should be completed by late afternoon. Poor weather conditions and technical difficulties can delay or cause postponement of the operation.
Helicopter Applicators of Gettysburg will be conducting the operation with a blue and white Bell 205, tail number N658HA.  Vectobac 12AS, a biological larvicide, is the control product that will be dispersed. The label and MSDS sheet for Vectobac 12AS are attached should you need more information on this product.

If you have any questions concerning this treatment or the Black Fly Suppression Program in general, please contact me at the number listed below.
