Same old... (03/31/11)

Hello Folks,

It's the last day of a very atypical March, 2011. We have been averaging 8 to 11 degrees below normal air temps over the past two weeks. We did have one day that pushed 80 degrees, but it quickly left us.

The cold temperatures have dropped the river water temps by a few degrees. I hate seeing the water temperature falling rather than rising in the Spring!

The rains and snow flurries moved back in last evening and it is still drizzling today. It makes for one miserable day outside.

We have the power wash guys here cleaning the outside siding of our home. We had a terrible mildew growth that has taken place over the past two years. I was able to clean our shed in the backyard, but the home presents a different challenge... Height!

So, our neighbors suggested that we go in together and have both homes cleaned by a fellow they used several years ago. We got a "2 for" deal.

So, last week, Mike's Power Wash called and said that they'd be here today! They started by cleaning the neighbor's home and deck first. They have just started our home this afternoon.

This Saturday, we'll be watching our oldest granddaughter. Julie and I watch her every other Tuesday night when her parents meet with other young couples from their church. Saturday will be the first full day that we have watched her since she was born in May, 2009. Both Grammy and Pop Pop are really looking forward to loving and spoiling her all up.

Pete Hanford texted me early this morning and asked if I wanted to go to the river with him on Sunday... "You bet I do!" We should be through all the bad weather that they're calling for tomorrow and rebounding back into the upper 40's by Sunday.

Hang tough and be expecting my next "Fishing With Dad" report to come sometime after that trip.

Oh, yea... Josh and I will be heading to the North Branch of the Susquehanna River for our annual Spring trip on April 9, 2011. We'll be spending four days searching for smallies in the Towanda, Pa. area.

We were able to find a motel that had a room for three nights. It gets harder and harder to find a place to stay since the gas drillers have "invaded" NE Pennsylvania. Our usual motel spot is totally rented out for the entire spring, summer, and fall!

Take care and Be Safe!
