Roof Leak, Insurance Company, Roofers 07/16/10

Hello Folks,

I am definitely going through the dreaded "fishing withdrawal." It's been one week since I've been able to get out on the water. It has been a madhouse around here with all the replacement work and...

On Wednesday, we had well over 3 inches of rain fall here in Willow Street, Pa. That is a lot of rain at one time. We've only had passing thunderstorms with no measurable amounts of rain for several weeks.

About a year ago, we had a leak at the middle dormer of our Cape Cod home. That leak allowed the water to come into our living room and drip at one particular spot. We called a home improvement company we had used before for a roofing issue many years ago and they came to our home and fixed the leak at the ridge shingles where the top of the dormer meets the main roof.

Well, the rain came through that area once again on Wednesday. Out insurance company has a "Blue Ribbon" plan that provides qualified and reputable businesses to do the work.

Yesterday, a company representative came and evaluated the roof. He said that we need to have a roofer come in and work on the ridge shingles and we most likely can get another ten years out of our roof... Great!

I was planning on getting up early today to hit the water, but...

The roofer is coming over after 10:30 a.m. to see what needs to be done and give us a quote for the work.

A fitting saying here is "When it rains, it pours!"

Thank goodness we got the deck door and the windows replaced on Monday and Tueday morning before all that rain fell. That would have been a nightmare to have openings throughout the house and then the rains hit.

I guess that is one good thing that actually happened for us this week. We are very pleased with the door and the windows. I hope we feel the same after the roof is repaired.

Take care!
Dad
