Mike Acord (Susquehanna Fishing Tackle) Promotes Fishing the Susquehanna River (09/17/13)

Hello Folks,

Our good friend and fishing guide, Mike Acord, was a guest on WGAL News this past week. Mike is also co-owner of the "Susquehanna Fishing Tackle", Lancaster, Pa.

Susquehanna Fishing with Mike Acord

One thing that we are noticing is that there seems to be more smaller fish being caught this season (2013) than any other season since the columnaris virus struck the river back in 2005-2006 and killed so many of our younger smallmouth bass. Catching smaller bass is a good sign even though we only had a moderate spawn according to the Pennsylvania Fish and Bat Commission.

Many anglers fail to understand that the big bass we currently are catching do not have the competition that normally takes place for food sources when the spawns are normal or above. We certainly have been enjoying these past few years with this summer being one of the best for larger bass.

Mike explains in the above video why this has happened.
