New View Of a Frozen River (01/26/13)

Hello Folks,

So what are these helicopter-like remote control crafts that we see flying around over our river? Well, my youngest son, Zach, informed me that they are called Gyro Copters. You will see that they have four independent blades compared to the standard helicopter design.

Jeff (CHRGD) sent me a short video that he took this past week while visiting the Columbia (Pa.) Fishing Ramp...

I went looking tonight for any information regarding the state of the Susquehanna River and the ice flow due to our frigid temperatures this past week and I found this neat video by Damian Korick. Damian posted this on YouTube yesterday, January 25, 2013... Enjoy!

Pretty cool, isn't it!? You can fly these copters across the entire river up at Harrisburg, Pa. and get a "bird's eye view" of what is exactly happening "Real Time".

Many of these Gyro Copters are controlled by a remote and the operator wears head gear that picks up the mounted camera view and shows exactly what the copter is flying over.

The federal government recently opened up airspace to allow average citizen, like you and me, to utilize these copters... Sounds like a new big boy toy!
