Hello Folks,
It's the day after Christmas and I was totally worn out and slept in this morning. We had theBoyd Family Gathering" here yesterday morning for gift opening. Twelve adults and five granddaughters were gathered in our Christmas decorated living room for unwrapping of our gifts. I want to thank my extended family for sharing my 59th birthday and Christmas Morn with me and my family.
My oldest brother, Denny, and his family left around 1:30 p.m. and the rest of us settled down for a fantastic Christmas feast perpared by my wife, Julie. She did a wonderful job with the 6 lb turkey breast and Christmas ham. She even made me a homemade birthday cake and pumpkin pie for dessert... Thank you, sweetheart!
Julie had taken me to Susquehanna Fishing Tackle before my surgery on December 3, 2013 to buy a rod and reel combo. I have a plan for tossing an Alabama rig this coming 2014 fishing season. Mike Acord helped me pick out a Shimano rod and Daiwa reel to get the job done. We also picked up the necessary tackle to build the umbrella rig... swim baits, swivals, hooks, and an umbrella rig.
Mike also taught me how to set up the rig and under what circumstances to use it. A big thanks to Mike for taking the time to help me and Julie.
Julie and I attended Christmas Eve Mass at St. Anthony of Padua, Lancaster, Pa. We arrived early to enjoy the decorated church surroundings. The alter was decorated beautifully with red poinsettias and full Christmas trees. Our church's manger scene has the same ceramic figurines of the Holy Family, shepherds, and animals as it did when I was a child... It's so beautiful.
I am blessed to have so many friends here at "Fishing With Dad" and on FB who have wished me recovery, a Merry Christmas, and a Happy 59th Holiday Birthday.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Be Careful and Stay Safe,
Dad
